Easter Weekend Recap and an Easter Table Setting

Hello all and Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. We had such a wonderful time celebrating Easter over the weekend. I am completely wiped out today, but it was worth seeing the kids’ excitement about the holiday. This year was a little different because it was the first year that I didn’t decorate. With the new addition to our family and a teething toddler, the house has been a mess and I couldn’t imagine adding more things to the mix. I did manage to put together a small bunnyscape on our kitchen table, though. Here is a peek at our Easter table setting:

The table linens are from World Market. The chargers, flatware and blue plates are from Pottery Barn. Our white dishes are from Williams Sonoma, but Target makes a pretty good dupe. The bunnies are an old Pottery Barn Easter item, buy you can find them pretty much everywhere now.

Mr. L surprised me with the carrot cake on Saturday. It’s one of my favorite cakes, and I was really craving it this Easter. I came close to making my own cake from scratch but then Mr. L found these cute mini cakes at Costco. They are delicious and especially so when you don’t have to make them yourself! And they were a cute addition to our Easter table setting.

No Candy Easter Baskets

Three Easter baskets filled with toys

On Saturday, we also let the kids hunt for their Easter baskets in the house. This year we followed the trend and tried to keep the baskets relatively candy-free. Here’s what we put in each basket:

The Dot (four years old):

  • Thermos Funtainer water bottle (Amazon link here)
  • Hair clips (Amazon link here)
  • Elmers Magical Liquid (for making slime–this is all she talks about these days) (Amazon link here)
  • Punch Balloons (Amazon link here)

Lamborghini (almost six years old):

  • Giant Bubble Kit (Amazon link here)
  • Slingshot toy (from Target dollar section)
  • Play doh (Amazon link here)
  • Brownie mix (from grocery store)
  • Punch Balloons (Amazon link here)

Our youngest son is a year and a half. He got yogurt melts and his favorite toddler fruit snacks from the grocery store. This fidget popper toy (Amazon link here) turned out to be a hit too (he loves pushing buttons):

We also got all of the kids new sidewalk chalk and a puzzle from Shutterfly with a collage of our family photos on it.

Family Time on Easter

Of course the following day the kids went on the official Easter egg hunt and got a decent amount of candy in their plastic eggs. But again we didn’t go overboard and put just a few pieces of candy in each egg. It was nice not having kids bouncing off the wall the entire time, and I think they appreciated that Easter is more than just bunnies and candy.

All in all we had a great weekend. The weather was perfect and we had a special day spent with family. On Saturday night The Dot told me she was sad because she didn’t want Easter to be over. And it hadn’t even begun!

We are starting off this week a bit slow after all of the excitement but with wonderful memories of this past Easter weekend. I think the kids will have fun with all of the toys and activities that the Easter bunny left for them. Our Easter table setting is still up, and we may enjoy that for a few more days too. And we may finally get around to making slime with The Dot’s magical liquid. Praying we don’t make too big of a mess, but that’s life right now. Chaotic, but a happy mess ❤.
