// ONE // This past weekend, we celebrated Mr. L's birthday. He's been traveling a lot for work lately, so it was nice having a day with him. Per our tradition, he got to choose out any cake he wanted me to make him for his birthday. I was thrilled when he didn't choose the Martha Stewart Salted Caramel Six-Layer Chocolate Cake. Even though it has been a year, I still get exhausted thinking about baking that cake, and making the caramel, and making the ganache, and stacking the six layers, ... continue reading...
Port Aransas Beach House
Last weekend, Mr. L and the kids and I snuck away for one last vacation before summer comes to an end. My mom usually takes my sister and me on a girls' trip every year, but this year she offered to rent a vacation home for the entire family in Port Aransas. We had so much fun going back to Port A. But the house. Oh. My. Goodness. It was amazing. Because we were on vacation, I didn't bring my big camera and took photos with my iPhone. Our week–er two weeks–in five
// ONE // Goodness the last two weeks have been busy! We had a little preview to what it will be like when school starts back up in August. Little L started swim lessons and goes every day from 8:30 until 9am. I'd like to say it's sooooo hard getting up early now that it's summer, but no--I'm still up by 6am and the kids wake up thirty minutes later. But somehow 2.5 hours is not enough time to get two kids fed, dressed in swim clothes and out the door. We have rolled in at 8:30 on the dot every ... continue reading...
Three questions to ask before buying more toys
This is the current state of the family room off of the kitchen, and the toys that occupy that space: What you likely see are toys everywhere. Blocks, a fishing pole, sunglasses, a truck, and a piece of crumpled up green paper. I'm not entirely sure why the green paper is there, but everything else is definitely toys. Now let me show you what Little L sees: The smaller dump truck and the sunglasses are a forklift. Obviously. The fishing pole and the larger truck make a wrecking ... continue reading...
