St. Patrick’s Day snack board and other activities

St. Patrick’s Day snack board and other activities

I'm pretty sure I've never written this out before, but I'm going to go ahead and say it: Top of the morning to you! St. Patrick's Day is this week and, as you my remember from my Valentine's Day post, I'm trying to make the year exciting for the kids because they're not in school right now and are missing out on all of the fun holiday celebrations at school. And holidays (even the arguably silly ones) provide the perfect excuse for snacks and fun. I've always been partial to St. Patrick's ... continue reading...

Easy and Quick Banana Bread Mini Muffins (and Pancakes too!)

Hello and good morning! I hope everyone is doing well and has a relaxing weekend ahead. I wanted to pop in with a post about one of our favorite breakfast foods: homemade banana bread mini muffins. These muffins only require one bowl to make, bake in 15 minutes, and freeze really well. And they're kid approved! This recipe makes more than muffins! Well let me show you where we installed the shelf that we made: our newly updated powder room: This was truly the last room in the entire house I had not touched with a paintbrush. And it was quite the odd-room-out because every other room in the downstairs area is white or grey, and this small bathroom was the old yellow color. As the only downstairs guest bathroom, it is also the most frequented room by family and guests. I ... continue reading...

Make yellow pine look like natural oak in 15 minutes

Good morning! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. Due to the cold weather, we didn't get out much this weekend. But the upside to bad weather is that I have time to write blog posts. I had a breakthrough a few weeks ago that I wanted to share with you. I am happy to report that after 10+ years of mixing stains and trying to achieve a French oak and natural oak finish using inexpensive pine wood, I have finally figured it out! And it doesn't involve bleach. The secret to my ... continue reading...
