Monster Truck Birthday Cakes

Monster Truck Birthday Cakes

We spent this past weekend celebrating Lamborghini's fifth birthday. And oh how the time has flown by. He is no longer a little kid anymore. He is a smart, independent young man who is eager to take on the world. He keeps me updated with regard to the house he will live in when he grows up (near Bammie and PopPop) and all of the pets he will have (three dogs). He is already a self-professed engineer, but one who fixes sister's stuffed-animal cats when something bad happens to them. He is ... continue reading...

A Modern Traditional Entryway Update

A Modern Traditional Entryway Update

Now that you've seen our updated front porch, I am excited to show you the changes we made to the interior of our house. This entryway project has been a long time coming. We started installing board and batten last November, and I have been painting the downstairs ever since. The seven month timeframe doesn't even include the time I spent debating over white paint colors, which is a story in and of itself. But I am so happy with the results. Front Door Refresh

Front Door Refresh

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! It's been a while since I've been on the blog, but I thought I would dive back in with another post about my front door entryway. My outdoor Christmas decor was the most recent blog post, so an entryway update seems apropos. These "before" photos are slightly embarrassing, but they help put the "after" into perspective: And there ... continue reading...

Budget-friendly outdoor Christmas decorations

Budget-friendly outdoor Christmas decorations

One of the most daunting tasks of the holiday season is decorating the outside of our home. Indeed, the activity is so daunting that I have yet to do so in the going-on five years we have lived here. I'll put up a Christmasy wreath and our "Santa Stop Here" sign, but that's usually about it. Until this year. I know I keep mentioning the self-imposed budget I'm on, and I really will expound upon it one day. But for now, let me just say I'm on a budget and had to get creative. While my DIY ... continue reading...

A mini holiday tour of our home plus our week in five

A mini holiday tour of our home plus our week in five

// ONE // December!!! It has finally arrived! Is it just me, or did November seem super long? I must admit, though, that I liked having that extra week and a half to decorate for Christmas before December hit. Our tree is officially up. Christmas trinkets are out on the shelves. The stockings are hung. And it's starting to smell like Christmas thanks to this live cedar garland I bought at Lowes to hang from the stairs. You can't beat the price of $15 for 20 ... continue reading...

About me

Hi! I'm Lauren. Welcome to my blog, where I write about DIY projects, home decor, and decorating on a budget. With 3 kids under the age of 5, my house not always as neat in real life as it looks on the blog, but I find a way to embrace (and organize) the chaos.
