Holiday bedding with DIY piped plaid throw pillows

Holiday bedding with DIY piped plaid throw pillows

Y'all. I have a newfound appreciation for seamstresses. I can't tell you how many times I've picked up a throw pillow at an interior design store and scoffed at the price. One-hundred dollars for a pillow!? I always think, "I can make that myself for $10!" Well pardon me while I humbly insert foot in mouth. Because I decided to undertake the $10 pillow project. And two weeks later I have my pillows. But gosh darn it they weren't easy to make. Here's the back story: I am an ... continue reading...

Chili Con Queso Soup

Chili Con Queso Soup

Hello Wednesday! I've been slightly MIA this week because I let several projects pile up and had to get a handle on them before I could get back to my computer. Between Christmas decorations, gifts (aka Cyber Monday), and life in general, it has been a crazy week. But I did want to pop in and share one of my favorite recipes that is perfect for this time of year: Chili Con Queso Soup.   Chili Con Queso Soup has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my childhood and ... continue reading...

A Happy (& Healthy) Thanksgiving

A Happy (& Healthy) Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This year we kept it fairly low key. Our good friend joined us for a Thanksgiving lunch, and then we sat outside and relaxed while the kids took their naps. Instead of the traditional "what am I thankful for" routine, I put down my phone (after I finished cooking, that is) and made a special effort to be present in the kids' day. When The Dot woke up from her nap, I snuggled with her in front of the heater and took the time to appreciate that ... continue reading...

DIY Grapevine Christmas Trees

DIY Grapevine Christmas Trees

I have always wanted to set two Christmas trees on each side of my front door as decoration for the holidays. In the five years we have lived in our house, this Christmas decorating plan has never come to fruition. Until now. Quick backstory before I get into how to make the trees: When we first moved into our house, I purchased two Italian cypress trees and planted them in pots near the front door. They were over six feet tall and sooooo cool looking. I couldn't wait to cover them with ... continue reading...

Our week in five

Our week in five

// ONE // Thanks for all of the love on last week's post about digitizing old photographs. You all are so sweet to take the time to read it and send me such nice comments. It really means a lot to me. Thank you. // TWO // Brr. That's been the theme this week. Not only because the temperatures dropped below freezing for the first time this year, but also because our heater STOPPED WORKING on the coldest night. I don't understand it, but The Dot and Lamborghini didn't seem to notice. ... continue reading...

About me

Hi! I'm Lauren. Welcome to my blog, where I write about DIY projects, home decor, and decorating on a budget. With 3 kids under the age of 5, my house not always as neat in real life as it looks on the blog, but I find a way to embrace (and organize) the chaos.
