2018 Holiday Gift Guide: Ages 1-4

2018 Holiday Gift Guide: Ages 1-4

One of my favorite memories growing up was writing my letter to Santa. My mom would save the Christmas catalogs from the mail and spread them all out on our dining room table. Armed with scissors and glue, my sister and I would spend hours deliberating and then cutting out every item we wanted and pasting them in our letter. My "letters" were at minimum 10 pages long and filled with collages of barbie dolls, my little ponies, and cabbage patch kids. I felt a touch of nostalgia when I opened ... continue reading...

How to digitize old photographs

How to digitize old photographs

I may be late jumping on this bandwagon, but I am finally getting around to digitizing my childhood photographs. When Mr. L and I moved into our new house, two things happened: First, we got more space. Second, everyone we knew started taking advantage of our newfound space by delivering boxes of old junk and memorabilia to our house when they came to visit. (To whom it may concern: We still love you, but we are still going to complain ♥). Eventually my upstairs "craft" closet became the holding ... continue reading...

Our week in five

Our week in five

// ONE // I am so glad last week is over! It was a rough one for us. Not only was the weather miserably hot and then miserably cold and rainy, but also the kids were sick.  And they tag-teamed me! I knew something was terribly wrong when Lamborghini didn't want to go outside and look for snails. It's his favorite pastime at the moment. Later in the evening, he started to get a high fever, and he just fell apart. It had been so long since he had been sick that the poor little guy didn't know ... continue reading...

Simple changes to make your house feel like a vacation home

Simple changes to make your house feel like a vacation home

Ever since we got back from our trip to Port Aransas, I have been trying to emulate the overall feel of the beach house by making small changes around our house. As much as I want to, I can't go with a full-on beach theme because I live at least two hours from the nearest beach. I live by a self-imposed rule that I must live within walking distance to a beach in order to have a beach theme. And I do want a beach-themed house one day, so you know what that means. #lifegoals. So while I'm not ... continue reading...

Our week in five

// ONE // I wanted to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my blog posts and for all of your kind comments about the blog. It means the world to me that someone other than myself and Mr. L are actually reading what I write (and that Mr. L's proof-reading efforts are worthwhile). I started writing this blog as a way to keep my wits about me after deciding to stay at home with the kids. When I was working as an attorney, I was on top of everything—I could whip out memos in minutes, ... continue reading...

About me

Hi! I'm Lauren. Welcome to my blog, where I write about DIY projects, home decor, and decorating on a budget. With 3 kids under the age of 5, my house not always as neat in real life as it looks on the blog, but I find a way to embrace (and organize) the chaos.
